My friends Neel and Suchorita are the coolest people I know, so it’s fitting that we had The Pinball Cafe as our venue for family portraits — and my first meeting with their son, Tenzin, who’s almost four weeks old. Tenzin was committed to keeping his eyes closed during the whole shoot, really only opening them once I packed my camera away, but I feel we’ve come to an understanding for next time. : )

48 hours in Tremblant

I happily accepted a quickie press trip to Tremblant, not because I ski, but because they were offering to show off all the non-skiing options at the resort; many I’d never done before. In a day and a half I went dogsledding, ice climbing and snowshoeing, all for the first time and loved every minute of it.

Twins! I photographed Félix and Aurélie when they were tiny little babies — just seven weeks old. But now the happy munchkins are almost 18 months old.

Ladies who shoot their lunch

Earlier this week I went on a two-day jaunt to a farm near Thornbury, Ont., courtesy of the team behind the Canadian launch of the Australian wine label Ladies Who Shoot Their Lunch (got that?). The goal, of course, was to shoot our lunch, then skin, clean, cook and eat it. Alas, the birds outwitted us, but we enjoyed a beautiful, crisp fall morning, and some frozen ducks who’d met their demise earlier.

I’m not a hunting advocate, but after this trip, I see the merit in it for sustenance purposes. You don’t get much more locavore than heading down to the local pond for lunch. And waste is minimized as well, no packaging and everything that’s not eaten is compostable.
